The first dead rose in the year 1680 of the Celestial Calendar, during the Great Northern War between the Dai Shikai Teikoku and the Kouznets Union, now in ashes. The City of Septis, despite its all-powerful astromancers, met the same fate after joining the Dai Shikai Teikoku in their war efforts. Refugees from the 3 nations now roam the continent of Argon for a place to settle down and start over.
The dead walk in organized ranks and they are slowly gaining ground on the rest of the world. All attempts to stop them have only added to their number, with every fallen soldier becoming one of them. The only hope for the living is a new alliance between old rivals: 7 years after the dead first walked on Argon, the Kingdom of Albion, the Empire of Inheritors, and the Cities of Sinai have forged The Pact.
So far, only one of the many eclectic clans of the Forest Folks has joined them, the Unified Tribes of the Black Wolf. Will the Grand Circle of Druids recognize this new menace and agree to align with this alliance in spite of their differences?
The Kingdom of Thessaly and the Black Sea Company, so far protected by distance, have yet to become involved, but many say it is just a matter of time… and convincing.
Heroes from around the world flock to The Pact territory, hoping to stop the undead invasion and gain renown for their nation, their family or themselves.
What will your role be?
The Nations
Black Sea Company
True kings at sea, the leaders of the Black Sea Company have become essential for commerce and transportation between the nations of the world. Their city-boats are sure to hide many secrets and treasures.
Cities of Sinai
Composed of five large city-states erected in the desert, the nation of Sinai is renowned for its trade and commerce. It is the sole producer of the coveted crystal flower.
City of Septis
A small but mighty nation, the City of Septis was built on an active volcano. There exists 5 social castes: the ruling mages, the noble mages, the warriors, the artisans and the slaves. The City fell to the undead armies, but some have managed to escape and preserve their ancient knowledge.
Dai Shikai Teikoku
The four kingdoms, united by the Immortal Emperor Dragon, ruled over the Northern Sea for centuries. They are now in disarray not only because of the devastation of the war, first against the Kouznets Union and then the undeads, but also because of the disappearance of the Emperor.
Inheritors Empire
Now that the Kouznets Union has fallen, it is by far the largest nation of the world. The Empire of Inheritors is formed of many cities and kingdoms, united by faith and devotion to the Church of the Five Martyrs.
Forest Folks
Since time immemorial, the Forest Folks have travelled the world seeking new grounds for their people. They are divided into a multitude of tribes and clans spread across Argon, organized with their own rules and customs. They, however, all defer to the Grand Circle of Druids. They share the belief of the Old Ways and proudly display their Fatum, signs of their alliances with the fæs.
Kingdom of Albion
The Albionians are warm, friendly people, attached to their traditions. The kingdom is the proud symbol of the chivalric ideals. Its people have long since adopted the Old Ways, and their ruler is said to be chosen by the fæs.
Kingdom of Thessaly
The oldest nation in Argon, the Kingdom of Thessaly is a peaceful and bountiful place. Its philosophers and patrons are known worldwide to provide guidance and counsel.
Kouznets Union
Ruled by General Kouznets, the elected leader since the fall of the monarchy, the Kouznets Union defended the ideals of harmony and equality. Once the largest empire in the world, even their novel gunpowder weapons could not protect them against the undead armies, and they fell during the Great Northern War, leaving countless refugees without a home.
