Beyond Life and Death
In the previous post, we talked about how our immersive combat would work, here is a sneak peak for some of the rest of our systems. Keep in mind that we are still working on it and some of these things are still subject to change.
Classless system
Unlike a lot of LARPs, video games and tabletop RPGs, there are no classes in our system. Instead, characters will spend character points to buy skills and abilities spread in multiple ‘’skill trees’’. This will allow you to build a truly customized character able to do what you want them to do.
Nationalities
There are no elves, dwarves or half-angel-half-demon-half-trout characters in The Pact world, only humans. We want to put more emphasis on where your character is from, their cultural differences, and our system reflects that. Certain merits, sort of skills available only at character creation, will be exclusive to characters coming from specific nations.
Fully developed new characters
Players will start with enough character points to have a fully developed character at creation. Your character had a life before, maybe they were a fully fledged surgeon or they studied astromancy all their life, and we want our system also represents this past. No more waiting for years until your character gets to do what you truly wanted them to be able to do.
Slower progression
Since they will start fully developed, your characters will progress and learn new skills at a slower pace. Getting a new ability every 1 to 3 games will give you time to roleplay practicing those skills without having to wait too long.
Custom groups
One of the more experimental things we want to bring is group sheets and mechanics. Having your group grow and evolve like it is its own character. Unlocking group abilities like combat formation for a military unit or forbidden ritual for a coven of Septis astromancers.
Stay tuned next week for some more system teasers and lore reveals.
